Postpartum is

…a space for Integration

Honoring
la Cuarentena

It is believed in many different traditions that the first 40 days of the postpartum period is an important part of the healing process, not only physically by bringing in vitality and restoration to the body, but emotionally and spiritually by integrating and processing the birth experience and the many beautiful lessons that it brings forth.

By taking care of this space and providing the proper care, rest and nutrition, we help to provide restoration to the body, mind and emotions, as well as the proper integration into this new stage of life.

Closure

Birth is an expansive act that opens up our body and our spirit in ways that will be unique for each person. Once we pass the threshold we are transformed, we learn about ourselves, about our strengths and our capacities. All of these emotions and new learnings are in an expansive state, open and tender, like our hips and our bodies.

The act of closure calls into the belief that after birth our body enters into a dry stage, where we will work to prevent cold-like symptoms from entering into our womb and body.

In what ways do we help you with your closure process?

Belly binding

Belly binding is a technique that allows the healing of your abdominal space, helps support your soft tissue, digestion, and the womb involution, preventing or treating diastasis recti and other ailments, as well as bringing in physical and emotional support for our hips and womb.

You will feel held, supported, and protected while your womb and body heals and slowly aligns back into place.

Hip Closure Ceremony

The Hip Closure Ceremony is a space for the birth parent to connect with themselves, to take a minute to embrace, remember, and integrate the lessons of birth, and to welcome and give thanks for becoming a parent.

This ceremony is done at week 6 of postpartum, when the body has had some time to heal, and where other therapies have been received in order to prepare the body for this process.

Warmth

Warmth is our biggest ally in our postpartum. By bringing warmth into our womb and body, we allow healing, restoration and vitality. Warmth comes in all forms and ways, from the food that we eat to the different tools and techniques we implement.

Food Is Our Medicine

We want to bring deep nourishment into our body with meals that are gentle and easy to digest. For a digestive tract that is recovering and moving back into place, we want lubrication, gentleness and deep healing.

Bone broth, well-cooked vegetables, warm soft grains, tea, soup, warm meals, etc.

External Warmth

Applying warmth in localized areas is a great tool for healing, bringing ease, relaxation and smoothness to, in this case, our pelvic area and womb.

Herbal baths, vaginal steams, and moxibustion are just a few of the many therapies that we implement to bring about womb healing, and an overall grounded and relaxed body.

Matriz Jaguar offers postpartum meal guidance, as well as personalized tea blends that are created with your needs and desires in mind.

Herbalism

Herbs are a gentle and effective ally. They provide medicine and healing.

By adding them into our practice, we bring in the wisdom of the earth. As they all have a different role, medicinal purpose, and healing aspects, we provide personalized care where we identify each individuals’ needs and pair the plants that will best serve the purpose.

Alternative Services

This focuses mostly on the birthing parent, providing care and allowing for deep rest and restoration.
